Two for a tenner at Southwark Playhouse
‘2 for a Tenner’ offer: Saturday 11 December (quote: 2 for a Tenner)
Southwark Playhouse presents The Chimes by Charles Dickens
Dramatised by Les Smith, music by John O'Hara
Directed by Gareth Machin, designed by Tom Rogers
As the church bells chime in the New Year, ticket porter Toby Veck is taken on a fantastical journey through the dark soul of Dickensian London. The timeless story of his struggles to care for his daughter and her future still ring as powerfully today as they did in Victorian times.
This is Gareth Machin's third production as Artistic Director for Southwark Playhouse. Gaffer! by Chris Chibnall was Gareth's second production of which Time Out said: "this blistering new one-man play by Chris Chibnall confounds almost every expectation you'd care to bring to it".
